Snow globe in the dark

For those who liked my animated snow globe and not only, here is a new interpretation of the scene, this time darker and stormier. Available both as a still image and an animation.

SAMB 2013

Another year, another edition of the Bucharest Auto Moto Salon. This year my visit there was brief.

samb

As expected, such an exhibition is filled with various toys for boys.

Counter-Strike, map level: Moara lui Assan

This was a Counter-Strike themed shooting that happened at the ruins of Moara lui Assan (Assan’s Mill) in Bucharest. The weather was far from the best, with rain and clouds, resuling in very bad light, but we did all we could… and I think the result is not entirely bad.

Photo comic: Medieval

Some time ago I also played with comic strips made as a combination of photography and illustration, but this time the idea was to aim for a longer story, evolving with feedback from the viewers. It will continue only if the audience want to.

New toy

What I do when nothing to do? Beside buying books and being lame? I buy toys of course! And my latest toy is this AK 47 (Kalashnikov)

Pink Elephant

Having a bad day in a row of bad days from a row of bad weeks from a row of bad months, hoping this little fuzzy guy (the pink elephant is the mascot of what probably is the best pub in the world) will help a bit. No workee…

Introducing my new friends

They are two of my new friends, the black and the silver (there is one more black, for “bullet time action) and I was deeply pissed, I think it shows:

…sword in hand…

I am a big sucker for swords and fantasy, no from my point of view, the swords tournament offered by the knights from Èšara Bârsei was the highlight of the ONGFest. Too bad I didn’t know about it, I did’n plan shooting it, didn’t expect to say so late in the night so I didn’t have an external flash unit on me, didn’t have a secondary battery for the camera on me and as a result the photos were not the best and not as many as I would have liked. And I missed their following fireworks.

knights

Beyond the scenario, the fight was spectacular, they were putting passion into it: sparks on clashing swords, real kick throwing the opponent 2-3 meters away and making it roll in the dirt, all the audience enjoyed it.

sword fight

And where are knights and sword fight, there must be also princesses, balancing the male violence with their grace and providing the guys with a reason to fight. And maybe a prize, what I know?

princesses

So the old city of Bucharest, knights, swordplay, princesses… what do you want more? Oh, yeah, some drinks… they had that too 😀

Fighter wannabe

This self portrait has a lot of flaws (position of the background, an unwanted shadow, not the best focus and light) but it was fun and some more will follow.

I like to pretend is a Level 1 Fallen Paladin, beginner with the sword and who has to kill rats to get enough experience and advance some levels. Maybe then he will be able to master the sword, learn some magic or even multi-class, but that is wishful thinking :p

The Sword

I bought myself a sword (a real one, battle-ready) which I intend to use for photos, I got plenty of ideas but it will be harder to put them in practice (needing models, locations, accessories, etc.). At least the first step is made.

Toy knight

I was looking for this particular Schleich figure for about 3 months until I unexpectedly stumbled over it when making groceries, no store had it in stock and even a lame online store messed up my my order weeks ago (and there the price was like 50% more). Joy!

The Fighter

The Fighter

Now the following step would be to find the right elven princess and maybe a fierce dragon… Well, another, and probably more important step would be to find a store from where I can buy a real, medieval-looking sword for me (the trick is, it should not be a fake, the feeling is important for the right photography), so if you know such a store with reasonable prices (so probably not in the US, from where shipping would be pricey), please shot.

Screencast: photomanip

To finally put the portrait and its photomanipulation to rest, I feel like a screencast (a video tutorial) is in place.

Note1: the soundtrack is made from freely licensed music by Severed Fifth;

Note2: I have the video available in its original format, at an incredible image quality, but the file is large, too large for what vide sharing sites allows, so I’m looking into the right way to publish it.
