Now that the lost boy returned and a new one joined the team, I think my arsenal is complete for a while (not that I don’t want more toys, of course I could use a few more):

There is a story of the boy that was lost in the forest and now he has returned: my (not so) old Tamron lens, which was with me for tens of thousands of photos, one day got on its knees, with errors and errors and errors, so I had to bring it back to the mothership for repairs. It took over half a year, but now he is with me again and appearing to work:

I lost faith on many things those days, including in ever getting F64 to ever fix my lens, so in the end I followed my my friend‘s advice and bought a new, better lens – even if I still disagree with her, you can’t buy happiness with money… well, unless is an enormous sum, like 1,000,000€ or such…
And if you know me, you know I’m following the principle “or la bal or la spital” (translation from Romanian: “either at the dance, or at the hospital”) so I went for f/2.8 and a weight that will break my back. Middle way is not an option.
My biggest regret is losing the opportunity to use this gear to capture one of the most beautiful blue eyes I ever saw, every time my gear was incomplete, I missed the opportunity and tried to do the best with what I had available. Not what I wanted. I am sorry.

They are two of my new friends, the black and the silver (there is one more black, for “bullet time action) and I was deeply pissed, I think it shows:

No matter how I pose and what I pretend, I know well and won’t try to deny what not I am: a sexy photographer. But what I can do is acknowledge and show you some: no matter how small their cameras are and how often used, by simply using them they are “photographer” and as for the “sexy” part… you tell who is sexier, the model or the photographer (hint: they take turns, so…)

I am known to fall into extremes at times, like a week ago when a photoshot came less than perfect (read: “messed up”) due to the lack of a power outlet where I could plug the lights. Frustrated enough, I took care of the problem by buying some power cords: a raw cable, 30 meters long and a 10 meters roll, for a total of 40 meters… that should be enough, I thought.
Now I wonder if the decision was the best: instead of the 30m cable, a 20m one could have been long enough, but considerably easier to carry around (is heavy!)… but the bigger the better, I have more autonomy this way. As for the weight… that’s between me and my back :p

Do you remember my frenzy this spring to shot blossoming trees and my sweet spot for quince flowers?
These days, that tree in my garden came to fruition and the beautiful flowers turned into tasty fruits, after all the autumn is not entirely bad:

Lately I tried a few shoots of poppy flowers, but yesterday morning I had the opportunity for a composition about this. Made just in front of my house, early in the morning when leaving for work.
Update: the high resolution of the photo(s) here were lost in an unfortunate accident(human error made by be) and a bit later the only copy remaining (resized for web use, hosted on flickr) was deleted by the yahoo bastards. I am very sad about the lost content, but is out of my control. My only hope is I will be able to replace them with more and better shots.

This self portrait has a lot of flaws (position of the background, an unwanted shadow, not the best focus and light) but it was fun and some more will follow.
I like to pretend is a Level 1 Fallen Paladin, beginner with the sword and who has to kill rats to get enough experience and advance some levels. Maybe then he will be able to master the sword, learn some magic or even multi-class, but that is wishful thinking :p

I was looking for this particular Schleich figure for about 3 months until I unexpectedly stumbled over it when making groceries, no store had it in stock and even a lame online store messed up my my order weeks ago (and there the price was like 50% more). Joy!
Now the following step would be to find the right elven princess and maybe a fierce dragon… Well, another, and probably more important step would be to find a store from where I can buy a real, medieval-looking sword for me (the trick is, it should not be a fake, the feeling is important for the right photography), so if you know such a store with reasonable prices (so probably not in the US, from where shipping would be pricey), please shot.

Obsessed with this week’s homework for the photography course I made a third composition, this time using some AA batteries.

You can have an epic battle, an ample fight of mythical proportions, two ways: as Good versus Evil or as Evil versus Good. Set the mood with focus, characters, colors and lights. But in the end it is just a play with the toys.

"Digital Photography", volumes 1 and 2 in a boxed set, my latest purchase purchase: at the first sight, those books look good for beginners (I consider myself a beginner) they are a collection of tips, one on each page, illustrated with useful photos. And I think the price was good, 26.99$ plus transport (another 8$).
And this is a good recipe to make people happy: when I made the purchase on Amazon, the estimated delivery was 24 December, the next day when I received the shipping confirmation, the estimate moved to 29 December. I received the package on 15 December so I am happy (and very positive towards the postal service, which I used to curse at other times).

What to do when you encounter a corkboard full of post-it notes pinned to it? Take out your camera and get some photos, of course. This has interesting stock photography potential.
