My lens is still broken, I am still broken, I can’t do productive stuff, have to wait and see. But since someone lured me into that, and I need to pass some time, I’ll go to the classic posting of funny keyword searches that made people visit my blog (together with my smart-ass comments), maybe this will bring a smile to the face of one or two persons. Have fun.

Some time ago I also played with comic strips made as a combination of photography and illustration, but this time the idea was to aim for a longer story, evolving with feedback from the viewers. It will continue only if the audience want to.

Probably people expected me to publish a lot of photos from ARTmania and I failed them… what can I say? from my point of view it had the potential of a so great event only to end so depressing… Still, I can’t disappoint totally (or can I?) and put at least something, a stupid photo of a cute drunk dog and a cute half-anonymous girl, made by yours truly, the idiot photographer:

When I bought the toy a few days ago I hat it shipped at my office, as usual, since this is the most convenient for me. Couple of days later, it was the time to bring it home and much to the shock on friend who lives in an unsecure country where something like this is inconceivable, I had no problem taking in the street, since in Bucharest something like this is obviously a toy. Of course, inside its original box 😀
The day coincided with the openSUSE release party, where I participated along with a few friends and all the toys I could carry (Mo called us “Fedora release party crasher crew” for this). The meeting point with the other guys was at the exit from a subway station, PiaÈ›a Victoriei, since I thought this may be the most convenient for all. And now is the moment when my stupidity shines: while waiting, I showed them my toy, ready to take it out of the box and fully assemble it. And only then we realised we are less than 100 meters away from the Government Palace, a building heavily guarded, with armed soldiers and in a time when the government just raised the taxes. And realised is probably a good idea to keep the toy inside the box 😀 And also realised how stupid can I be at times.
But this is not all… we continued to wait with the box under the arm while a guy passing by, not sure if he was drunk, crazy or both, asked us if that is real. From the box it was obvious is a toy, but we told him this once again. Then he asked us if we know where he can buy a real one (AFAIK, is not possible or legal to buy an AK 47 in Romania) so we, amused, directed him to ask the palace guards, since they surely have real guns. Before leaving he let us know how angry is he with the Prime Minister and bragged about he would do if he had a real weapon (from his look I doubt he ever touched one).
So I am stupid, but probably not the only one. Hope not the biggest one either…

Aye, i got this new toy, the pirate flag, ignore this crappy self-portrait made without a tripod and in a cloudy, ugly day… Me have in mind some real ideas about usin’ it. Stay tuned, it may get pretty. Gar.

Looking at this photo from the Miss contest I feel like turning blind… no, not because of that, you dirty minds, but because of the strong sunlight. Do you? (yep, that’s a test for mind dirtiness… or it should be).

This weekend I was on the field, shooting: Saturday at the “4tuning All Stars” drift show and Sunday at Menfest, “men only” fair, two excessively sunny summer days so now I have “tractor driver tan” (don’t try to understand the expression if you aren’t Romanian).
At this moment I am too tired, too sunburned and too depressed by happenings in my personal life so I don’t have the energy for proper blog posts, consider this as a teaser for the photos which should arrive in the following days (quite a few pretty girls included :p)

OK, I acknowledge that, I am an engineer so I work and think as an engineer most of the time, so apply the same style of work to any problem that needs solving (even if it is not a problem supposed to be solved as an engineer). However, this week-end at the tourism fair I had the opportunity to witness the blonde style of problem-solving.
It seems they (the blondes) approach the problem just the same way us (engineers) are supposed to do it too, by reading the manual (well, we engineers most of the time think we are smart enough do we don’t need the manuals any more, but know it would be the sane thing to do):

Note: girls, please do not feel offended by my (bad) attempt at humor, I think you are beautiful, otherwise I did have not wasted the time here.

Driving (fake driving anyway), do you see any trouble with that? I don’t… or maybe just one more half of centimeter missing.

A photographer life can be hard, he is a pro, must behave and don’t do like the bozos (cocalari):

After taking the photos you may want to do some more than just looking at them, like, why not, create a comic strip, so here is a tutorial for doing this with GIMP and Inkscape:
