Indeed, this is grass, the thing which is usually green. The one you usually step on.

Looking at this photo from the Miss contest I feel like turning blind… no, not because of that, you dirty minds, but because of the strong sunlight. Do you? (yep, that’s a test for mind dirtiness… or it should be).

The sun in spring is nice and much awaited (of course, when the rain does not destroy everything) and even if your camera manual say is dangerous to direct the lenses directly to the sunlight, so can’t abstain from doing so and trying some dramatic backlit pictures.

Beyond selling martisoare at practically every street corner, at the Peasant Museum was organized a fair: the good part was that in a sea of kitsches, you were able to find some authentic stuff, the bad part is that the place was overly crowded.
It was a good opportunity to see what the martisor originally was: a silver coin on a red string, a protective amulet to protect the children after the cold season, not the hypocrite gift you have to give to all women around you.

It was not that cold, only around -7°C so my balls survived, my main problem in taking photos of the New Year fireworks was a bit different: the location. We had in Bucharest two such events organised in the street: one by municipality (read: the communist mayor of Bucharest) in Piața Consituției and another organised by some TV and radio stations in Piața Revoluției.
My lenses have their pride and refused to shot at the larger and probably better lighted event which was practically a disguised launch of a communist candidate for the next presidential elections, so I went with MTV: the lesser bad from two poisoned choices. And the price to be paid, in any of those locations, was to endure listening to boy bands. Probably my most demanding photoshot so far[*], worse than the Luxury Show, where the admission price was real money.
[*] what’s worse: to listen to the boy bands or to watch their desperate female fans jumping around?

More from the Christmas set: the Nuage disco band singing at sub-zero temperature at Piata Unirii in Bucharest. Probably not the best place and time for their music, but I guess that place and time were not very good for any kind of music (unless you visited, like me, a nearby stand for a big glass of hot boiled wine):

A week ago, returning from the urban offroad shooting, I spend some time in the city shooting the newly installed Christmas city lights. I have not insisted very much, as I planned another, more focused, session.
So this week-end, despite the completely adverse weather (cold rain, cold wind blowing), I decided to get out and try something. I was unsuccessful, you can’t to good photos with water on your lenses.
Maybe next week-end I will have more luck, until then the city administration may even have some time to get the decorations better.
