Living the life of a rock star

The music says thunder-struck, the wedding around say love-struck: the groom and his friends are rocking together.
Tools of the trade for a present day musician.

From the unfriendly light in The Silver Church, here is Awake in concert.

From a photographic point of view, where the light is of the essence, The Silver Church is the worst. Actually, most likely there are worse places with no light at all, but you got the point. Important was the performance delivered there by Shifting Sands, which deserved better support.

For the Korean national day I enjoyed a concert where the main attraction was the gayageum, their traditional string instrument.

Some people are too young to die. I just learned a fellow photographer is no longer with us, here’s she in action at a metal concert, one of the things she enjoyed in life. In fact, that’s how I knew her, as a concert photographer, sometime we were shooting shoulder to shoulder.

I am reposting this picture, since the subject became recently a kind of international celebrity. The photo was made a couple of years ago, in May 2012, when I was in Vienna for the Libre Graphics Meeting conference and going out for some beer and schnitzel we passed by the Volkstheater where the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards happened. I could stay only a few minutes and then rejoined the group.

“It’s music to my ears” one could say when hearing the noise, and it probably is.

A little bit of rest for the artists, soon they will have to perform on stage

Tango in the streets is something you can see more and more happening in the city at various events, so it couldn’t miss from this year’s Street Delivery

Even if titled “party”, Metal Crush was in fact a 3 days metal festival with many bands, around 20 I guess, among which were Akral Necrosis, Infected Rain, Monarcy and Abigail (all pictured below):

At the Korean concert I saw those kids, watching the opera songs, can’t say how much they enjoyed it.

For the Republic of Korea a somewhat unexpected show happened yesterday at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest: Korean artists singing opera. Voices aside (they were great), from a visual point of view the soprano Kim Hanna was a highlight, she looked and acted like an (European) princess.
The show was completed with another soprano, a baritone, two tenors and a piano player, all singing Italian and French opera and a few Korean songs.

Assisting to a jazz concert (the Jack DeJohnette Group, with an opening by Iordache and his band), I understood is less visually appealing compared with, for example, a metal concert (my fave), both as lighting, costumes, accessories, stage play (also, my placement, as a mere spectator in the crowd was limiting), so I decided to channel my attention to interactions on the stage.
