Photography has the power to cut slices from reality and present them under the subjective view of the photographer. Here you see a granny at the beach, getting out of the waves. What you don’t see is her grandson, the real owner of the floating device and her real purpose to be there.

The Labyrinth photo exhibition is open until mid-August at Education Point on Mendeleev Street, near Piata Romana in Bucharest. There are a lot of good pictures made by various Romanian photographers.
I had the honor to have photos accepted in four of the five sections: architecture/urban, street, landscape/nature and fine art. Is an achievement to be there together with many other prestigious photographers.

I was invited to join a charitable online photo exhibition, so if anyone wants to give some money for a good cause can also receive one of my pictures, can do so. I understand the photos are printed at 20×29 cm (A4) and put in a nice frame and they are sold for 90 RON, from which 2/3 of the price goes to charity, the rest is productions costs.

Last Sunday, Canon Romania organized a big event, called ‘Canon Day’. The first thing in the morning was an opportunity to play with some Canon gear. I was really impressed by a 600mm tele lens: it is very sharp and really makes distances disappear. Unfortunately, at that time there were no more interesting subject to shoot around. I wish I had more often a use case for such a lens (and, of course, the money to afford it).
Later in the day, we could attend workshops on different photography genres, I spent most of my time at the weddings workshop and some at the fashion one. Too bad one can’t me in more places at the same time…

If you look carefully, the photographer himself can be seen somewhere

Some people are too young to die. I just learned a fellow photographer is no longer with us, here’s she in action at a metal concert, one of the things she enjoyed in life. In fact, that’s how I knew her, as a concert photographer, sometime we were shooting shoulder to shoulder.

Is the season of blossom, so the photographers got out hunting. This is a good opportunity to hunt the hunters.

Standing for "Dragobete kisses the girls", "Dragobetele saruta fetele" is a photo exhibition hosted traditionally by the Village Museum in Bucharest (Dragobete is a Romanian popular tradition somewhat similar with Valentine’s Day).
This year I had again the honor to have a picture accepted in the exhibition and, even better, it received the 3-rd prize (is the same picture which received a prize in the Bucharest Art Photographer Salon 2014).
The exhibition is open until 9 of March (basically, for the entire “love spring” season: Dragobete, 1st March, 8 March) and the access is free.

Today, 11 January, in Romania is officially celebrated the photography day, this is established in the memory of Carol Popp de Szathmary, the first Romanian photographers and one of the photography pioneers of the world. There is a week ahead full of photography related events and it started today with the fourth edition of the Bucharest Art Photographer Salon.
After last year participation, I submitted photos again this year and three of them were accepted. On top of that, one was rewarded with a honorable mention, that’s is, one of the 6 prizes awarded in the salon. Not bad.

For those who liked my Xmas picture in the Parenting series, I am breaking some of its magic with a ‘making of’: tripod, remote trigger, multiple shots, loaded as layers, masks.

Back in July I had an interesting job as a photographer: play the photographer role in a commercial for Audi. It was really interesting, as everything was close to normal: real boxers in the ring fighting, a real referee from Vegas, many real professionals. Even us, the photographers were real: we had to shoot as in a real game, except don’t use the pictures.
