Must in the family

Crushing the grapes into must (AKA wine making) is a family thing: mother, father, son, everybody get to work and each has his own things to do. Here it looks like the father is in the advantage.

And a lot of people there to admire… their own photos, their friends photos and eat all the food. The Bucharest in black and white photo exhibition opened!

I told you the food was delicious? Yep, we ate it all 😀

Pumpkin time

Take the pumpkin slices, add plenty of cinnamon on top for good flavor, maybe also some vanilla sugar. Bake it in the oven. Eat as is or with some honey. That’s autumn delight.

SkirtBike

Last week-end the Izvor park in Bucharest hosted the BikeFest festival, which had as one of its events the fourth edition of SkirtBike (autumn edition), where women are invited to take part with a bicycle while wearing a skirt (preferably vintage) and maybe high heels.

Must time

Is autumn, the season for grapes to get ripe. The wides use for the grapes is wine making, but before the fermentation they become must, a wonderful drink full of sweetness and flavor. Best served with grilled pastrami.

Pumpkin

I feel like playing on words today, so will continue on the same line, I guess that is not the pumpkin you are looking for.

Autumn again

Leaves started turning yellow and orange, soon they will go even red and brown. It’s autumn again.

Brown and yellow and red and a little green

I know is cliché, but I like the autumn colors, with so many browns and yellows, with some reds from time to time and still some greens remaining, that I had to post them. Is full autumn, we moved to the winter time and is bad for photography, I don’t know when I will get natural light during the week, so at least I can use those colors as consolation in the mean time.

Autumn again

Cold weather, dim light and plenty of warm earthy colors: is again that time of the year, the autumn did come.

Last rose? Yes.

It was an incredibly warm November so far (it won’t last, according with he forecast) so I had a last opportunity for a sunny morning with a lone rose in my garden.

Of bees and flowers

The last breath of the flowers, I had the opportunity to capture some classic close-ups with bees, which was a good opportunity, a first test of the macro capabilities of my new lens.

Tufanele/Crizanteme = Chrysanthemums

In some parts of the country they call those “tufănele” (especially when the flowers are smaller), the dictionary says “crizanteme”, English is “Chrysanthemums” and in the last few autumns I made a habit to capture a few pictures from my garden. It seems however this will be the last year, the poor flowers are rarer and rarer, dying due to my lack of attention. I have moments of shame for that.

My world

My friend asked for a series of photos showing my world, true and real, just as it is, with ugly parts and beautiful parts. So I am doing it.

sucky world

As you can see, now the world is sad, dark, dirty and lacking any hope. Welcome to the reality.
sucky world

To complete the mood, let me share a poem written by one famous Romanian artist:

Lacustine
by George Bacovia

So many nights I’ve heard the rain,
Have heard matter weeping …
I am alone, my mind is drawn
Towards lacustrine dwellings.

As though I slept on wet boards,
A wave will slap me in the back –
I start from sleep, and it seems
I haven’t drawn the bridge from the bank.

A void of history extends,
I find myself in the same times …
And sense how through so much rain
The heavy timber stilts are tumbling.

So many nights I’ve heard the rain,
Always starting, always waiting …
I am alone, my mind is drawn
Towards lacustrine dwellings …

More bees, more chrysanthemums

A year ago I had a beautiful experience in a warm sunny weekend with the opportunity to take some great shots of bees and chrysanthemums in my garden. This year my garden is in a much worse shape (I totally suck as a gardener) but still a nice couple of days, some flowers and a few bees… and this look like the start of a tradition.
