When Green is a color of fun

Simplicity and complexity at the same time. And a lot of color.
I find the autumn colors to be fascinating, so I made a series of images with such colors. Now, a bowl full of squashes.
The Color Run 2015 just happened in Bucharest – the usual: running (mostly walking), a lot of colors, music, selfies and such.
This time I found the colors refreshing.

This was pretty much the climax of the color show, the moment when everybody in the audience released into the air his bag of paint powder.

The Holi festival in India is spectacular, no wonder there are copycat attempts, like The Color Run which had the first Romanian edition in Bucharest. But those can’t use the original religious theme of Holi, so they have to use something else, like a 5 kilometers run followed by a party. Still, the paint and get together are kept.

I know is cliché, but I like the autumn colors, with so many browns and yellows, with some reds from time to time and still some greens remaining, that I had to post them. Is full autumn, we moved to the winter time and is bad for photography, I don’t know when I will get natural light during the week, so at least I can use those colors as consolation in the mean time.

I take seriously the freedom thing so my photos are never photoshoped, they are gimped instead :p So I used GIMP to touch the portrait I made the other day.
A first step was to play with the saturation, the initial colors are a bit too strong and the black and white is not bad at all:
Another interesting operation is to play with cropping and put in the spotlight what you think is the most interesting part of the picture:
And of course, unleash the gimping extravaganza going for a "glossy magazine cover" type of photography: heal the unwanted spots, soften the skin with selective gaussian blur, sharpen the eyes, lips and hair, other important details (the ring in this case) and, why not, alter the color of the eyes and lips. And stop here, while a bit of sanity is still preserved…

Last wee-end, at the "Dulciuri pentru toti" ("Sweets for everybody") fair in Bucharest, is worse than porn: more addictive, triggering an instantaneous body reaction (mouth watering, hunger) and politically incorrect (for diabetic people). But is fun, enjoy.

The very first day of owning a new camera, a walk in the city from work to home, capturing the colors – nice, vivid fruit colors.
