Goodbye Vienna

Since I am sure at this point I already bored all my readers with the photos from Vienna, I think is the time to put an end of the series with an one last pic. Have fun!

Vienna: beer festival

Another totally random encounter in Vienna was a beer festival taking place near the city center, a few hundreds of meters away from the St. Stephan cathedral. The setting was not very different from the festivals at home, the same tables and chairs, some different brands of beer and food, a much larger orchestra playing.

Vienna: ceremony

Walking around the city of Vienna, by chance we saw the Volkstheater where a ceremony happened: the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards. So grabbed the camera and played paparazzi for a bit.

Vienna: the food

Staying in Vienna, you absolutely to have one dish: Wiener Schnitzel, which is not much different than the schnitzels I remember from home, but apparently larger (the surface is large but the meat is thin) and mine was served with potato salad on the side.

Even the burger had some local touch (and no buns, which is good). The beer here is Czech (Kozel).

And there is plenty of international food, like those brunch plates:

Something is missing from here, the Wiener Strudel, maybe next time…

Vienna: funny fountain

Say whatever you want, but I found this fountain in a central park of Vienna to be really funny. I pondered for a while some editing to change the water color, but in the end let it natural.

Romanian chicas

When asked for some TV news show which Romanian food he likes the best, one of the Spanish supporters being here for the big final answered “the girls”. If you know what he meant…

Final/Fans/Football

Yesterday evening Bucharest hosted the Europa League final, a match between two Spanish teams, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, so the old city (the Lipscani area) was practically under invasion by happy people singing, dancing, screaming and drinking. Is hard to say which is which, since both teams have the same colors: red and white stripes (Bilbao may have also a bit of green, Madrid a bit of blue).

Vienna: people

Sure, a city is not all about industry or traditions or parks, there are people there, and I think people are the most important. The people I saw in Vienna looked very relaxed, like they should in a civilised city.

This was also the case for the crowded areas on the commercial streets in the center

Vienna: parks

Among this palaces and cathedrals, there are also a lot of parks in Vienna and at this time of the year (month of May) they were green and full of flowers.

Vienna: traditional

Vienna is known more for its traditions: cathedrals, palaces, many impressive buildings, some of them really old and some from more modern times. In the very center you can even rent a coach with horses (pictures won’t capture the smell of manure):

Vienna: industrial

The series of photos with images of the city of Vienna will have a more serious (boring?) start, with an industrial theme: train station, busy streets, thermal plant.

Prater by night

Being for a few days in Vienna, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit the Prater amusement park – it was my second time there, the first time I was pretty much a photography newbie. This time I planned it as a night trip, where the images should be more spectacular.

Supermoon

The supermoon happened last night, while I was on a trip to Vienna, so it caught me quite unprepared, with no tripod or ther useful tools for such a moment. And the sky was cloudy all day and for a good part of the night, it took a while until I got a clear view of it:
