Fashion on the beach

Among the many things that happened in Vama Veche was a day with fashion photography. It started with a studio session:

And continued with an outside session, on the beach, near a stage with rock music (death metal!):

For the day to be complete, in-between was time for some street-fashion play:

Morning in Vamă

ARTmania 2011: the people

So there is a music (metal) festival in the city, there also have to be people too, some of them for the event, some not. Capturing them is a must for the photographer:

Free Hugs

Need a hug?

free hugs

Maybe you will be able to get one for free… (last Saturday a bunch of kids gathered in the Herastrau park of Bucharest to give free hugs)

Jiji and the culture

A photography display on the fence of National Museum of Art. Here’s Jiji… facepalm.

Walking on Calea Victoriei

On the route to Bucharest Music Film Festival in the beautiful light before the sunset and having the wide lens ready… you have to take the pics:

Some of the things to be seen: National Museum of Art, Piața Revoluției, Carol’s Statue, Telephone Palace.

Bucharest Music Film Festival

These days the city is hosting the Bucharest Music Film Festival right in the city center, at Piața Revoluției, in front of the Atheneum and the National Art Museum. As the name says, the main feature is classical music:

A lot of people, of various ages and backgrounds, are attending every day:

And they seems to enjoy it:

I enjoyed it too once this week, if time and schedule allows, maybe I will do it again.

Passing trough Lipscani

It seems I can’t pass trough the old city of Bucharest and keep myself from taking photos, especially in such beautiful light, right before the sunset. Here are a couple of details: a street light and a balcony.

Heavy rain

Saturday the weather was not friendly, cloudy and cold, but since there was something to shoot, I left home anyway, heading for the Cișmigiu park, with the hope it will at least stay the same. It wasn’t so, around Piața Victoriei it started to rain furiously: hailstone, thunders and lightning.

Getting to the end of the line, I had to leave the bus and get refuge in the bus station, the perfect place to enjoy the rain (over half an hour more), bring out the camera and capture some moments:

Some people were courageous enough to defy the nature, my equipment is not weatherproof, so I had to maintain cover:

Yup, this is a heavy summer rain in the city. Enjoy it. Or not :p

Asphalt Tango

One interesting (and photogenic) thing at the “urban festival” on Mătăsari street was the people dancing tango on the street and wearing street clothes. Not many, but not very few either.

Basarab passage opening

After much debates and delays, the Basarab passage in Bucharest opened at last! …good opportunity for the current mayor to shamelessly assume the merits, but I digress, this is not a politics blog, we are here to share some photos from the passage opening.

basarab

So it was a parade, the parade was not all about beautiful girls, there were also uniforms:

And bikers with their mighty bikes:

And old cars:

And, of course, a lot of beautiful girls:

And cheerleaders:

And don’t forget the virtual kisses:

Now the next step? Curse the traffic on the passage, of course!

Crimson city

At times I may be positive towards it, but there are also many cases when I hate this shitty city, like yesterday evening when returning home I witnessed such a beautiful sunset, only to have the city obstructing my views and ruining the scenery.

Spring at the golden hour

I was in the park at the golden hour for something unrelated, wanted to check the tree blossom status, but having the tele lens on the camera (for flowers), when it happened to see interesting human poses in the distance… I shoot.

Tea versus Green Men, an Earth Hour story

A small group of photographers meet Sunday in the Bucharest city center with the plan to take some photos at the Earth Hour festivities (for my part, I was dumb enough to forget home the wide lens, so wasn’t able to shoot many things there)

A cold wind made us enter for “an hour” in a tea place, warm a bit, look at photos and have some talk

But the “hour” took a hour and a half, just enough for us to miss the critical time… blame the dea (wild cherry, cinnamon and honey bush flavors):

Still, we managed a few glimpses with the green men and their “victims”:
