SMAEB+4tuning: pantyshots galore

Beautiful girls? Check. Nice legs? Check. Minuscule skirts? Check. Sitting on cars or bikes? Check. Trying a sexy pose? Check. An unscrupulous photographer? Check. The use of a flash unit to add needed light to the shadowed areas? Check.

The result? An interesting number of pantyshots. Still debatable if they are candid or not, but this is unimportant.

The girls of SMAEB and 4tuning

Another large post with photos from the bikes and tuning salons, this time more focused on girls, with good looking portraits. Enjoy.

I have in the queue more portraits, taken even closer, but you’ll have to wait a couple of days until then, tomorrow we’ll talk about panties.

Bebelusele at SMAEB

You can’t have a good motor show without sexy celebrities and you can’t have a bike salon in Bucharest without Bebelușele, it would not be the same without them. They are beautiful and a pleasure for any photographer (even if this time they were places in a horrible spot with bad light coming from behind so you had to do mostly "contre jours".

SMAEB + 4tuning – eye candy for everybody

I have in mind a quote which is so obvious that a lot of people should said it already "a car show is for a photographer just like a candy store for a child"

4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars 4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars

So the candy store cam to me this spring in the form of the 2009 edition of both the Bikes Salon SMAEB and the car tuning salon 4tuning, something I couldn’t miss, no matter what.

4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars 4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars 4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars

I took effectively tons of photos (thousands), like in this post general shots of the show but more will come when I get to process them: a lot of beautiful booth babes, some portraits, a number of panty shots and a few surprises.

4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars SMAEB 2009: Babes an Bikes

I am not much into cars or bikes, so the machines are only [at most] a secondary element in my pictures, so if you are searching for cars, maybe this is not the best place to look at.

4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars 4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars 4tuning 2009: Babes and Cars

On a technical side, I attended the fairs both Saturday and Sunday but tried something: one day shooting with a zoom lens (28-300mm) and a lot of flash (my first massive use of flash ever) and the other day used a 50mm prime and almost no flash. Being lazy, I still prefer to use the zoom lens.

The hardest part was, as always is the case for me, the selection. I just find awfully hard to reject photos, even when they have visible defects, I still find a thing or two what I like. This is my largest weakness as a photographer.

Snow White is wearing sneakers

Today’s candid: Snow White. In the park (Cismigiu). And wearing sneakers. Is that supposed to be a fairy tale?

Bridal

From the photographer’s point of view, one of the positive aspects of the "e-marigage" weddings fair in Bucharest was the frequency of the fashion shows they had on stage, so I could shoot about 3 of them. Too bad they had the same few models again and again (at least a few of them were beautiful, so all in all a positive experience.

Say anything you want, but looking at her I can’t think of anything else than Arwen UndomieLiv Tyler. I am definitely a geek (but she has nice rack too):

And they had also some "kinky" stuff too:

In the park

Posting lot of flower photos lately I may gave the wrong impression of wussification… nothing far from the truth, in the park I don’t shoot only flowers but also people. Not many, as the weather is not yet warm enough and I am picky.

Belly Dance

One of the most popular tourism destination for Romanians is Turkey, so inevitably agencies present at a Romanian Tourism Fair must attract visitors with some oriental belly dance and if you, as a photographer, spot a cooperative dancer, the shoting is set:

Malta: Bikinis and Knights

The ugly to hot ratio at a tourism fair is high, probably because the booth babes are supposed to talk with the public, not only to sit on display like at a car show (…or it was yet another effect of the economic crisis?), but a booth for Malta vacancies was putting quite a show: they had to bikini babes posing (unfortunately, in the hours I roamed around only the brunette was "working").

Tirgul de Turism: Bikini Girl

They also had a couple of guys in heavy armours, posing as knights, without Malta crosses and with a shiny cardboard background, so not very realistic but still some effort.

Tourism Fair / Tirgul de Turism

From the photographer point of view, the spring edition of the Bucharest Tourism Fair (Tirgul de Turism al Romaniei) was worse than the autumn one: the place was very crowded, being hard for you to get some good shots (and considering the bad light, it was quite an effort).

But being insistent enough, you can get something, including revealing cleavages like this:

Salonul Nautic Bucuresti: [not enough] Babes on Boats

The Nautical Salon in Bucharest was supposed to be a big event, but it wasn’t that big, barely filling a hangar at the Romaero Baneasa Aircraft Factory and it missed the most important part: babes on boats, there were not enough of those, how did they expect to sell boats? 😛

Martisor and the city

Saturday was the last day of the calendar winter, but it was a very nice, sunny day and the last chance for people to spend their money on the shitty Romanian tradition of Mărțișor, so the city was full with people selling and buying martisoare and also with photographers.

Martisoare in Bucharest

I am not sure if the photographers were out to catch the martisor commerce or just for the beautiful day …or maybe for both, but practically the city was full of people with cameras, including me. Only that I had also a secondary target: a nautical salon (more on that later).

Screencast: photomanip

To finally put the portrait and its photomanipulation to rest, I feel like a screencast (a video tutorial) is in place.

Note1: the soundtrack is made from freely licensed music by Severed Fifth;

Note2: I have the video available in its original format, at an incredible image quality, but the file is large, too large for what vide sharing sites allows, so I’m looking into the right way to publish it.

Beyond portraits: photomanipulation

I take seriously the freedom thing so my photos are never photoshoped, they are gimped instead :p So I used GIMP to touch the portrait I made the other day.

A first step was to play with the saturation, the initial colors are a bit too strong and the black and white is not bad at all:

Portrait: photomanipulation

Another interesting operation is to play with cropping and put in the spotlight what you think is the most interesting part of the picture:

Portrait: photomanipulation

And of course, unleash the gimping extravaganza going for a "glossy magazine cover" type of photography: heal the unwanted spots, soften the skin with selective gaussian blur, sharpen the eyes, lips and hair, other important details (the ring in this case) and, why not, alter the color of the eyes and lips. And stop here, while a bit of sanity is still preserved…

Blue eyed blonde Anca in high key portraiture

Sunday was an exciting day at the photography course: we took portraits in the studio, with camera on a tripod and studio lights. Since most of my colleagues did shoots they can’t to at home (low key, dark with strong small lights and big shadows), I went the opposite way, with a high key photographs, for which I asked Anca, a blue eyed blonde colleague, to pose.

Portrait exercise

The main light is quite close to the camera, almost like in fashion portraits, with a second light on the right to ease the shadows and a yellow backlight to give some contour of the hair and make it golden. This photo is touched just a little (saturation, sharpness, a few blemishes removed), will follow later with more photomanipulation (I need time to play with GIMP and try various things).
