On the route to the volcanoes, we passed trough beautiful countryside: fields of red poppies, green grass with tiny white daisies, it was a beautiful summer day:

This weekend, together with a group of friends, I was on a trip to the famous mud volcanoes in Buzău county:

At times I may be positive towards it, but there are also many cases when I hate this shitty city, like yesterday evening when returning home I witnessed such a beautiful sunset, only to have the city obstructing my views and ruining the scenery.

Near the end of May, is almost summer here, the time of the summer flowers. And you don’t need to go too far, fields of poppies are also inside the city (if you know where to look for them, of curse):

In the past years I visited the tuning show and came back here with some photos, now in 2011 the title and the organizers changed, but the show happened again and I was there too. Still havind a large backlog on unprocessed photos, but I can put here some highlights:
Of course we love ice cream, don’t you too? The only question is: cocoa, vanilla or both?

It looks like I did everything at Flowers Day (Florii) in the Village Museum (Muzeul Satului), from glamourous shoots, to traditional masters interviews, to children portraiture to fun photos and cat photos (yes, I did that too), except the very thing I was there in the first place: cherry blossom pictures. Wrong! I did that too 🙂
When you have it in your blood, you can’t stop, you have to make this type of photography, so even if a Flowers Day at Village Museum didn’t seem like the place for it, I managed to see those girls taking each other photos with a small compact, stepped in and helped with my gear:

And the bike salon SMAEB 2011 happened this year… despite a massive data loss (still didn’t recover the pictures made in the first day, the memory card is not cooperating, my hopes are smaller and smaller), I still have some pictures to share:

The past week was not friendly for photography and my schedule was a bit busy, so only yesterday on my route for another event I got the opportunity for a short detour in the Herastrau park to check the tree blossom state and I liked what I saw, quite some beauties in that near-sunset time:

Is that time of the year again, when the spring tries to establish and the first flowers appear, time for crocus, the spring’s announcers… too bad the day was fugly: cold, cloudy and trying to rain and too bad my camera has some issues (after ~85.000 frames the shutter button has problems triggering, I don’t have the balls yet to part away with it for a repair) and too bad the dogs damaged the flowers in my garden, a visit to the park was what I had to do.

I was familiar with the expression “Paștele Cailor”, meaning “Horse’s Easter”, as a date when nothing will happen (as in, for example, I will such Bill Gates dick at Horses Easter) and also knew a couple of explanations for it. This year I learned another one in a photography trip with Orasul.ro: is a festivity of the small Bulgarian community in the City of Tîrgoviște, happening after the winter when the horsed are taken out for the first time. It is also called “Tudorița”.
So together with a bunch of other photographers I attended the event this year, which, of course was pretty much about horses:

This endless rain is sickening, the lack of sun is ruining all the expected beauty of the spring and photography plans, I don’t know mow much of it I can take any more… fortunately Mino, a brave soul dared to stick it into rain’s face and go for an outdoors photo session

Over the week-end I was in Brussels for the FOSDEM conference, as part of the Fedora team, the perfect opportunity to take my wide lens with me and take a lot of travel photos.
So of course there were building, cathedrals, monuments and so:

I am still crazy a about my new ultra-wide lens, bought last November, using it even when is not the case, is a very nice toy… and probably ruining a lot of shots in the process 😀 One not unwanted effects of the perspective deform produced by it is that… it makes the girls legs longer. A lot longer. Of course, if used properly…
