Rain in the city

Rain in Bucharest is doom and gloom, the city usually gets near to a collapse:

But at least some look like enjoying it (or at least being affected not that much):

Small portraits

Enough is enough, so I had to end being a softie by posting a last batch of "cute" portraits, so I can go back to my usual self.

Children and traditions

I am not undergoing a pussyfication process, it just happened to be in the park, observe the subject and press the shutter, what else a photographer is supposed to do?

I am a vulture too…

At Ziua Mamelor de Inger I found interesting to observe how the photographers were pouncing over "cute" subjects (kids playing), just like vultures over their prey.

But I am a vulture too: I stumbled upon some people crying and hugging and my first reaction (old habit?) was tu torn away and give them some privacy. But then I went like: WTF! I am a photographer! I can’t leave the decisive moment pass… if they want privacy they shouldn’t do this in public, at an event where media is invited…

Ziua Mamelor de Ingeri, Bucharest, 2009

Bucharest is a relatively peaceful city, with not many interesting opportunities for photojournalism (boring photojournalism is …boring), so I am not trained at that and when I get to take such shoots, like here at "Ziua Mamelor de Ingeri" ("Angel’s Mothers Day"), where I was invited by Bianca Brad, I take mostly portraits and candids, what I know and what I like.

Sexy photographer at SMAEB

If more photographer would be that hot, I bet a lot of guys would go for a photographer assistant as their career choice… wouldn’t you?

The money shot

It seems sensible to define a money shot as a kind of pantyshot but better, with no panties involved :p

SMAEB+4tuning: pantyshots galore

Beautiful girls? Check. Nice legs? Check. Minuscule skirts? Check. Sitting on cars or bikes? Check. Trying a sexy pose? Check. An unscrupulous photographer? Check. The use of a flash unit to add needed light to the shadowed areas? Check.

The result? An interesting number of pantyshots. Still debatable if they are candid or not, but this is unimportant.

Typical Romania: the gipsy and the cimbalom

You get a chance for an interesting shoot and screw it, with the excuse that it was night in a moving tram, fire the on-camera flash and unleash the hell. Then months later you get the second change and obviously you screw it again, with the opposite excuse, supposedly the light was too strong. Such is life…

Snow White is wearing sneakers

Today’s candid: Snow White. In the park (Cismigiu). And wearing sneakers. Is that supposed to be a fairy tale?

In the park

Posting lot of flower photos lately I may gave the wrong impression of wussification… nothing far from the truth, in the park I don’t shoot only flowers but also people. Not many, as the weather is not yet warm enough and I am picky.

About squirrels

The Romanian word for squirrel is "veveriță" and sometime is used in the same sense as the English "beaver", so I guess someone can argue about a link between those shoots and my usual stuff…

This little guy lives in the Herastrau Park and, even still stressed, is accustomed with people and is profiteering to grab some food.

Tourism Fair / Tirgul de Turism

From the photographer point of view, the spring edition of the Bucharest Tourism Fair (Tirgul de Turism al Romaniei) was worse than the autumn one: the place was very crowded, being hard for you to get some good shots (and considering the bad light, it was quite an effort).

But being insistent enough, you can get something, including revealing cleavages like this:

Salonul Nautic Bucuresti: [not enough] Babes on Boats

The Nautical Salon in Bucharest was supposed to be a big event, but it wasn’t that big, barely filling a hangar at the Romaero Baneasa Aircraft Factory and it missed the most important part: babes on boats, there were not enough of those, how did they expect to sell boats? 😛

Martisoare Fair at the Peasant Museum

Beyond selling martisoare at practically every street corner, at the Peasant Museum was organized a fair: the good part was that in a sea of kitsches, you were able to find some authentic stuff, the bad part is that the place was overly crowded.

Tirg de martisoare:

It was a good opportunity to see what the martisor originally was: a silver coin on a red string, a protective amulet to protect the children after the cold season, not the hypocrite gift you have to give to all women around you.
